Message: got my dak back from a transmission shop where they put in a rear transmission seal - well - went under it to check it out and found, of the six nuts holding transfer case to transmission - four bottom nuts tite, one top nut I could unscrew with my fingers, one top nut not there. and a dented tranny pan - they changed fluid and filter.
and I had to add a qt of fluid.
I fixed it and went back and he said he's sorry and will get me another pan.
by the way, they were going to use universal trans fluid, I gave them ATF+3 to use.
man ya gotta watch these so called mechanics. I was cool about it but how many people would bother to check out their mechanics work or even know how to.

Message: Your right I would always check out the work that is done at any shop you take any vehicle too.
No matter if it's a Oil change to major work!
I'm a Mechanic my self and I do the same.
I had a friend of mine just went for a oil change, picked his 98 Tahoe up drove it home about 10 miles. When he got there he notice a lifter tap he also is a Mechanic. So he pulled the dip stick, turns out they filled his engine with Tranny Fluid!!!!!! So needless to say that was a big mess............
Just thought I would share that story with everyone. To drive the point to check the Mechanic's work no matter how basic the work is being done.
