Subject: Yet another T-stat question... IP: Logged
Message: I'm thinkning of installing a 180 t-stat on my truck (obviously). The big question is, how big of a pain in the as$ is this? Would I have to drain the coolant system? I'm not even quite sure where it goes in the coolant line, or how to install it. Anyone have a website with that info, or personal experience? Thanks all...
btw, im runnin an 01 RC 3.9

Message: Easier then you think
I used a rubber tube to drain about .5 gallons of coolant (siphoned it into a bucket). Then loosened the two bolts holding the radiator tube to the engine (the T-stat is right under that) Cleaned off the gasket sealing area installed new t-stat and gasket nad re-installed the radiator hose. I read posts saying you had to loosen up an or remove all kinds of stuff but i found with a little patience you can do it without removing anything.
Good luck
Oh yeah replace the coolant you drained

Message: Yes the Robert Shaw seems to be the best by consensus anyway, I have used them on two different Dakotas with no incident i thin the part # is 755-180
