Subject: Beginning of MPFI 3.9?? IP: Logged
Message: I was looking around on the net this morning, trying to find out when the 3.9 started using EFI. Does anybody out there know? Also, when they started with MPFI, was the intake always the beer keg style? If the 3.9 EFI was always a beer keg, then I'm going to build my own. If it actually started as a standard intake, then changed up to the keg, when was it not the damn keg? Please help!!

Message: Let me take a guess here, your wanting soemthing other than a beerbarrel intake for your Magnum V6? well you'll have to fabricated it from the ground up.
92 started the "Magnums".
One thing you must know, the "beerbarrel" intake is Mag specific, you cannot use anything built for premag (LA) engines on it. The bolt holes where it mounts to the head are completely different (straight up and down as opposed to angled). There are no manifolds ever offered for mag V6's other than stock and stock modified "beerbarrels".
Hope this helped.

Message: Thanks FazDak for the input. Yesterday I called my local Dodge parts place, an he told me the same thing. I was already aware of the mag - nonmag concept on the top end. I've been dealing with Mother Mopar for many years now. I've done many hybrids also. Taking a mag top end to a nonmag bottom end and vise versa. I was hoping that someone would have told me that when the 3.9 mag started, it wasn't orginally with the "keg." Sorry for the venting. If my little thing of what I know seemed smart assed like, it wasn't intended to be that way. Basically, what I was hoping for was something to the equivilant to thte MPI 2brl that the small block bubbas are running. I guess I'm off to the drafting board. When I get it all together and have a true blue schematic, I'll let all you guys know.

Message: MoparDude340, whatz up man? If I'm not mistaken I believe you said that you build a hybrid enigine with a Magnum Top end on a Premagnum Bottome end, if this is true, and it actually worked, could you point me in the right direction as to how to accomplish this task. I've been in the process of trying to do this for almost a year and have gotten very little information. What I know now is that it probally is cheaper and wiser to just swap out the engines completely. This I don't now what to do. I already have a magnum intake, and V8 Tb, I'm looking for heads next, so that I can attemp this task. Any addition help is greatly appreciated.

Message: 87DakBuilder,
Email me @ moparman732000@yahoo.com. Let me know what all you have done so far, and I'll you tell what's left. The hardest part is going to come down to your pcm and stuff since you want the mag top end to run in an old truck. I'll walk you through it though. Let me know. I don't check this or my e-mail everyday, so you might not get a response, right away. Have no fear though, I'll help you with that year long headache you've had.
Take 2 of these and call me in the morning.
