I have a 2001 quad cab 3.9l at first when going to purchase I didn't want to get it, but it is an awesome truck, I want to get better take of and gas milage, but I do have budget issues, I have had rice burners before and I used dynomax exhausts they were pretty hi pitched but gave such great performance. What is the cheapest and durable way to go on this.

People usually start with the air intake first. Usually its K&N, or AirAid, or something like that. That would be just a personal preference.

Yeah, go with the airintake, then exhaust to
cover the respiration of the engine. The
cheapest way to do the airintake without
making your own is to go on ebay. Scrap the K
and N version made for our trucks and go
back to your ricer days and look at Honda
accord intakes. The performance intakes
made for 95-97 accords fit real nice in our
daks. The intake i have is actually made for a
95 accord, its even and RS Racing intake, and
i bought it on ebay for $45. The tube is even
aluminum/chrome looking. Another good
point about theses intakes is that the accord
has its IAT sensor mounted on the tube of the
performance intake, this makes for a great
place to plumb in nitrous after you get bitten by
the performance bug! To make them fit all you
have to do is use the factory intake boot as an
adapter, and it slides right into place and the
filter is right up next to the hole you should cut
out in the radiator flap. Any other questions

heres what you do, you work your a$$ of all summer, save all youre money, dont spend a dime, only for gas in the dakota. then when you get like $4000 you buy the V-6 supercharger kit thats at www.krcperformance.com ,you get it, and with the leftover money your get it installed, then youre runnin high 14's low 15's and youre kickin a$$ all over town, and everyone thinks you got a v-8 cause the $hits so fast. so thats what you do

Sorry, just a supercharger on the V6 won't get you into the 14's....high 15's yes, but not 14's.

Sorry if I sound dumb, but I just got a 2002 Dakota SXT, V6, automatic and I want to do everything I can to it, but I know nothing about all this stuff. What's high 14s and low 15s? Could you also help me with the first mods I should get, or are they the same.

14's and 15's are quarter mile times. How many seconds it takes to cover a quarter mile and what miles per hour you are doing whan you get there. Look at the info under Bernds post 14.93@93.26mph. mods depend on your budget. There are expensive and non expensive.

Chris, and to all Newbies, There are a number of things you can do to your 6er, like was posted earlyer colair intake is a great start. Autolite plugs, relocate the IAT, and a v8 TB are things you can do as well. all of which i have done. well ran into a snag with the V8 tb but thats my bust, bought the wrong cable. fixing that tomarrow. Well if you want to know more just shootme an e-mail.
