Subject: Comp Cam for 3.9!?
IP: Logged

Message:
I see that SpeedTweaks will be offering a Comp Cam for the 3.9 and looks like even a Crower Cam.

I can't find any info on the Comp or Crower sites. I'd love to hear more? Anyone?

I'm thinking a mild cam w/ the crower rr's? What would that do for ye old 6 banger?

Sorry, just installed my Gibson exhaust and Int Perf Intake w/ a v8 TB on the way. Now I've really got the BUG! :P

OK - I guess I was just blind. I thought a cam for the 3.9 was something new. I've been lurking around here for 2 months absorbing info. and somehow missed the camshaft availability.

It seems though that not many of you have installed one. If so please speak up and tell me your experience. When I was in high school, my cam upgrade was the best money I ever spent on my chevy 350. I'd like to know what I could expect on my Dak and what kind of a task it would be to install. I'd consider myself an "intermediate" mechanic. I had a lot of help with that cam back in high school.

Oh yeah, my Daks is my daily driver. I want to keep it streetable but get every last horsey out of it I can.

Thanks!

Tell me more Sam.

What exactly is a regrind? I'm not fimiliar with that. What would the specs be and what kind of gains could be expected? Approx. cost?

What's the difference between 1.7 and 1.6 rr's?

Can the cam be installed by just removing the rad and and getting into the front of the block or does the motor need yanked?

Ok, that's enough questions. I really appreciate it.

The Comp Cams are all new cams...not regrinds...

and there is no need to run the 1.7 rollers on a larger profile cam...too much lift for the V6...

So I should run the stock rockers with a larger cam on the 6....

How much power can be gained from the comp cam or any "streetable" cam for the 6?

yeah since you decided to get nitrous i really can't hang anymore, and i won't race you motor for motor, The cam you got, does anyone know the part number from Comp? I don't want to spend 350 for a cam from KRC.
