I have a 2k Dak, V6, 5spd.
I use the truck for hauling and towing. The V6 engine BITES in the torque dept.
Without going to a V8, what can I do to improve torque??
Blower? Pipes? Options and estimated cost would be appreciated. Will the tranny and rear-end handle it?
Top end speed is not important, I need stump pulling torque.
Thanx
Jim

Sounds like the first thing you need to do is get the biggest rear gear you can stuff in your differential...probably a 4.56. Probably around $400-$500 installed?? Lots of things to do after that, but none of them would likely have a substantial effect on increasing your torque. A bigger TB and roller rockers might help some, then intake and exhaust.

If you put 4.56 in the rear your truck will be running about 4,000 rpm on the highway! Gears will help, a lot, but I wouldn't go higher then 3.93 unless you put oversize tires on it.

I supercharger will definitely do it if you have $3k to spend. A cam swap might help too, switch to one that produces torque lower in the rpm range.
