 Subject: Crate transmission or rebuild 95 dakota

I have 185,000 miles on my '95 Dakota (4.3L Auto) and the transmission just went out. The body and interior are still in great shape, so I plan on keeping it for a work truck. Which would be better... having it rebuilt locally or taking it to the dealer and having them replace it with a Factory crate transmission? It will cost me $1,200 to have it rebuilt locally and I expect it will cost twice that if I go with a replacement from Dodge. Would it be worth the extra cost??
