Subject: THE TB TRUTH EVERYONE READ PLEASE!!! IP: Logged
Message: I'm furious... No matter where you go there is always someone trying to *#@( you. I was going to buy a throttle body from the rtdkota guy and I saw this post. So I looked online and called one of the salvage yards. I saw a couple for $35 and $45 so I called to see if any were availiable. One of the shops said that he had 4 but shipped them all to cali (rtdkota is in cali) In out the air the guy said "I SOLD THEM TO A SAM OUT OF CALIFORNIA" I hate middle men. That is so screwed up he buys them for 35 and 45 dollars and sells them to us at 100 and 115 and makes himself seem like a good guy by saying that he is throwing in a 99 cent gasket for free. Beware of that guy hes been doing everyone raw.

Message: That's called business. Businesses mark up everything they sell buy a couple hundred percent, thats how they make money. It's capitalism. You can either go to a junkyard, track down a throttle body, but it and clean it up, then take the chance that it works good and all the sensors are good, then you have to go to Autozone to buy the gasket and go to a Dodge dealer to get a cable. Or you can go to someone online and get a product delivered to your house that is ready to bolt on and guarenteed to work. Your just paying for conveniance. I didn't buy one from him, i had no trouble finding one online from a junkyard for $20, i cleaned it up, ground off the airhorns and worked great. I spent 4 hours working on it, if i didn't have the free time to do it i would have no problem paying $100 to save me the 4 hours of labor.

Message: Don't goto Walmart or a store like that then, if you spend a couple of days searching and calling you can buy anything they have at cost also.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like the concept either but that's what this Capitalist Society is founded on you just don't know it till you know it.
Sorry dude. Probably mad you didnt think of it first huh? :-D>

Message: Sam also (I hope) cleans them and checks them for cracks around the body. (You never know what you get from a junkyard until it's in your hands.)
However, for $115, that's a bit much. We sell the 100% NEW Mopar TB's with new sensors (excluding the MAP sensor) with cable and gasket for $220. (And the TB comes with a 1-year warranty from Mopar.)

Message: More than half of the TBs I have received are from people who've upgraded to F&B Billet TBs... not junk yards. Other I receive from salvage companies fresh off the motors of newer Dakotas, & Durangos. The majority of these end up going to a company that reworks them, to cover cores that suppliers have never turned in.
Attn: akaproph
As stated elsewhere-
FYI-- I purchase large qtys. of TBs for both R&D as well as OTHER people that rework TBs for a living (you go and figure that one out). The $35-$45 dollar TBs you are referring, 3 out of the 4 were boat anchors (from burned vehicles-- bearings cooked-- tried to scrape out the plastic welded into the TB to no avail-- junk-- wasted money)... Each TB I receive is checked out, cleaned, and ready for use. More than half of the TBs I have received needed major rework (thus have been disassembled and now are being 'reworked' by another company for other purposes). Most all have working sensors (but you should use your stock existing ones to be on the safe side with a known working set of sensors). Sure I make a little money, but no where near what you are implying... I provide a gasket as I have the gaskets in bulk (I build and sell F&B Billet TBs, but you'd never consider one as you are looking for a $35 deal). I was going to also start stocking the V8 TB cables too-- for $25.00, not some inflated price.
Are you going to bitch me out for not selling headers at cost??? How about Crower products??? Should I give you MY discount???
If you want to go out and try to find the correct TB yourself, go for it. Hopefully you don't get a damaged or marginal one your first time out--
I don't appreciate any reference to me doing anyone 'raw' or ripping them off-- you apparently are new the Dakota community--
If you wish to discuss this further, email me.
Sam
