Message: Ok, so does anyone have anything constructive to say. My girlfriend just bought a new 2002 DakQC w/ magnum 3.9l V6. I've driven it, and it's lame... though as an owner of a 98 Vette, which I've personally added ~70HP, I'm a bit biased. What I'm looking for is doing some tweeking to her truck (when she's not lookin') to add another 25-30HP without sacrificing fuel mileage or drivability. Does anyone have any suggestions based on real life experience? The obvious things to me seem to be to upgrade the air intake system, and perhaps a new PCM. I just drove the truck 750 miles (PHX to San Diego and back) and while it rides nice, I'd like some more power to safely pass vehicles.

Message: I have a 2001 QC with the 3.9.
I added the JBA headers, Spintech catback
and hiflo cat, K&N Gen II intake,Jet stage 2
chip, 52mm speed tweaks V8 throttle body
and cable, and 1:6 roller rockers.
Make gobs of power now ( probably added
40-50hp) and gets better milage than the
stock 3.9 but the trade off is having to burn 93
octane.
Driveability is better than stock , much better
throttle response (mainly from the throttle body
and rockers). The spintech SUV muffler has a
nice low growl.

Message: I have a 95 Dakota with a 3.9 and it puts out 238 h.p. A brand new engine was put in about a month ago. I dont know what the old engine put out. But I dont feel the same power with the new engine. Even though their both the same. Maybe the new engine just isnt broke in yet. Ive only put about 350 miles on it.

Message: One thing we should remember when flaming/complaining/talking about power is the *real useful measurement* is torque (foot-pounds), not horsepower. Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races. Someone complained that the V10 only makes 310 horsepower... well, if I remember correctly it was over 550 foot pounds of torque which is more than the Cummins Turbodiesel.
Think of it this way: the Acura RSX-T makes, what, 240?ish HP out of a 2 liter four-popper. That's a lot more than my 175 HP Dakota, but we wouldn't want that four-popper in our trucks, would we? I think the 318 only makes a few more foot pounds than our sixes (like 30?).

Message: OK Guys, my delima is a simple one, before I even attempt to boost up my lil' 3.9 Mag I first want to get it out of the slump, I have a rough idle, Like a miss. Poor power from @800-1250rpm after that all is better, also some times after letting off the pedal the engine takes a second or so to come back down. I have replaced the Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, cleaned the injectors, and run nothing but 93 octane fuel, what am I missing?
