Subject: Injector information IP: Logged
Message: Greetings to all! I'm a visitor here. My searches brought me here and I'm really hoping somebody can help. A friend of mine is planning to give me a set of injectors from a 96 3.9 Dakota. I checked out fiveomotorsport.com and found them. It seems these injectors are high impedance type. Am I correct? I'd just like to know how I could check to see if my stock injectors on my car (Daewoo Cielo) are high or low impedance? Is it possible to use an ohmeter to determine the resistence value? I've been searching for months for information and I've only found dead ends. Looking forward to hear from you. Thanks.

Message: No idea, but why don't you email Bruce at fiveomotorsports and ask him - also his site is pretty informative.

Message: I've never tried measuring the resistance of a fuel injector, but assuming that you can, just measuring the DC resistance would not tell you the impedance of the unit. Resistance and impedance are 2 different things. Impedance also takes into account the reactance, which is either inductive or capacitive, and is calculated together with the resistance to arrive at the impedance...just like your speakers, which have 4 or 8 ohm impedance, but whose DC resistance is usually in the tenths of ohms.
Long story short...take Lesley's advice and email Bruce Holt at fiveomotorsports.com and ask him. Maybe he can advise you of a code or something to look for...if the injectors from a Dak will even fit a Daewoo?

Message: I went ahead and emailed Bruce. He said that I CAN measure the value at the connectors. Not sure why you two have differing suggestions but, hey, it's not gonna hurt if I try to measure it like Bruce said. And the way I figure it, even if my syste is a low-z I can still use the high-z injectors from the Dakota without fear. Thanks a lot guys.
