Message: Yes, they are. Typically people are putting the 50mm V8 throttle body on the V6, which I think usually has a 46mm or a 48mm, I don't recall which... it requires the changing of the throttle body cable as well, do to different linkages.

Message: Hey, I just did the same thing. My donor TB came off of a 360 and went on my 3.9. It kicks a**. The one thing I noticed was that the intake plane was way to small. do you think that I could take a dremel and increase the size of the intake

Message: You probally could, but the 5.9L (360) typically has a 52mm TB. Those are considered to be a mite big for the 3.9L from what I've heard. You might be able to dremel the intake down, but you may notice a decrease in torque doing so. Hard to say, let us know either way!

Message: Oh, yeah, if you have a Dremel, consider removing the 'air horns' across the top of the TB. You'll know what they are when you look at it. You can grind the TB face flat, it improves airflow going into the butterflys a bit. You can also remove the 'torque step' just above the butterflys themseves. I did it with my 3.9L's stock TB and noticed a nice improvement.
I'm probally going to get one of those custom jobs from Speedtweaks though at a later time (when I have cash).

Message: Hey TOOLMAN,
yes, to your question! It came off of '98 ram with the 360 in it. It is the same throttle body that is used on the 318. No problems, its a direct fit, but like Todd stated you will have to change out the accel. cable. I picked one up for $15 bucks at a salvage yard. The dealer wanted (no joke!) $40 bucks for it!
I noticed that for the first time I was able to climb these TX hills in overdrive. I run the 5sp NV3500 tranny (slopy beast of a tranny!~)
Next I plan on taking off the air horns, and openning the intake ports just a little.

Message: Racerdy,
The 4.7 is the jeep isn't it?! So, on that note if your vehicle is a dakota/durango/ram the 5.2/5.9 would be best. I ordered mine off of the same year ram; '98. The 5.2L and the 5.9L have the same throttle body.
Yes, simple hand tools: screw driver, socket(half inch), and a pair of pliars(if you prefer) is all you need to do this in your drive way.
The only linkage you should need to raplace is the accel. cable on the manual tranny setups.

Message: I got my throttle cable from the dealership. Just go in and tell them you want one for your year truck with a 318, wala. Dakota dan has the part # memorized. If you can do a search on his name or mine, it should come up withing the past 2 months.
Logic, I have an automatic and still had to change the cable.
darren, you will have to get one pre 95-96, and then their is some slight grinding you have to do to make something clear from what I understand, but you need a throttle cable also, and it should be same bolt pattern.

Message: Dale,
I knew the accel. cable would need to be changed on both, but the auto tranny cable I was not sure about so I specified for my aplication. Did you have to change out your tranny cable?
Racerdy,
If you go to the dealer for the cable you will end up paying around $40 bucks. I called around to some different salvage yards to see who had a '92 plus year model dodge truck with a V8. Thats pretty much all you should need to do. Oh yah, make sure the cable isn't kinked. It should run you about $10 to $15 bucks. It only takes about 1 minute to swap them out!
When you ask about the cable just be sure they are looking at a '90s+ model V8, the older style is a ball on the end of a cable! (not gunna work) I had a salvage yard tell me they had one so I made a 70 mile round trip for nothing!

Message: Darran, Glad I could help.
Clay, IAT is on the right side of the engine, stuck in the intake, right behind the alt. (on the 97-2000) Locate it in the air intake ducting/tubing. MAKE SURE you solder the wires, DO NOT butt splice them.

Message: Clay,
On the magnum V6 throttle body the accel. cable attachment is a snap on ball style while the V8 has a clip on. IE: the cruse control cable has the clip on attachment.
Hope this helped!

Message: Clay,
call your local parts store and ask them to check if the parts #'s on the IAT sensors cross reference with the ones on a lets say 97 or 98.
I'm pretty sure there the same diameter and thred pattern.
