Message: 1995 Dakota 4x4, V6 Magnum. 108,000 miles, having my SIXTH, yes SIXTH transmission put in it this very moment. This thing has had crap for a tranny since it rolled off the line! This truck has never been used for "off roading", pulling trailers, or carrying large/heavy loads. It's just everyday transportation. It is my first, and definitely, my LAST Dodge purchase!

Message: Just got to be using the wrong fluid. Mine is a 99 CC 4x4 5.2. Only have 70,000 on it. Put amsoil in trany 40,000 miles ago. It is good as new. I also have the towing pgk. better cooling situation. About the second trany, I would have gotten very serious figuring out why.
So many problems .... So little time

Message: 99 3.9L, had the tranny completly rebuilt at 68k for a bad overdrive solenoid and a lot of other worn out things. Tranny was great after that for a while, but it still slips when i floor it, then lightly lift of the gas...this could be normal however it is very annoying/embarrasing as it sounds like i don't know how to drive a stick even though it is an automatic

Message: '00 auto was slpping 2nd to 3rd when cold. Add one bottle of Platinum Universal ATF Treatment by The Run-Rite Company (run-rite.com), and it solved the problem. Will be changing the fluid/filter this month, along w/ adding a cooler and drain plug kit.

Message: 95 A500 42RH 116,000 never a whimper
Amsoil fluid at 30,000 TCI shift kit 60,000
This trans was run behind my 267/305 RWHP
stroker motor chirping 2nd a lot hammerd the
hell out of it
now behind a stock 92 with all the mods and still
will chirp 2nd
These transmissions are set up like crap from
the factory just a little work and they are very
strong the A500 will handle upto 500 ponies
the A518 1200 ponies if setup right
how can you go wrong here
1 customer lost a trans 88 dakota
1 blew the 1-2 accumulator to pieces
1 518 slipping clutchs
these were the worst the rest were minor probs
line pressure must be checked 50 to 70 idle in
gear with break on 70 perfict and should jump
100psi+ as soon as the gas is touched if not
it needs to be looked at center port check
I have seen a lot from the factory at 30 40 psi
this low pressure will kill the trans and can
be fixed very easy with a few turns on the
presurre adjuster sometime the valve itself
is hanging up
