with all the mods on that engine you would think it would be just a bit faster then that. he would only take me by like a car length at this point. you better get workin on that V6 turbo fast.
sounds like ur 0-60* would be like 10 seconds. maybe you should race some jeep liberties instead of your usual V8 daks and s10s.
so how long before the V6 turbo anyway??
better question, when are you gonna give us the 1/4 mile and hp of R/T-2 with 8 psi?

Message: Is that his truck or the companies truck? On the speedtweaks web site it says" OUR DAKOTA"! With all the mods you do, you should be in the high 15's NA. It would have been Cheaper to do a crate motor! What is with the turbo kit it has been over 3 weeks since you've posted some new info? I saw on another post that you were going to charge over $6,000 for the turbo kit, is that so? For $6,000 I could build a 500 ci. big block with 600HP from people like INDY OR MUSCLE MOTORS and do 10's!!!
Another thing is you can't compare kits that cost 2 GRAND LESS to a turbo kit, especially if it doesn't have the #'s!
I could probably make a 600HP kit for that much with one of the other forced induction packages! With an extra 2G's I could easily make a whipple kit with an extra 100HP&100ft-lbs of TQ at the same cost! Mainly with low CR pistons and F.A.S.T. Programmable engine system!
I'am not saying that turbos are not good, I know they make the most HP's, but the cost per HP/TQ is all that matters!!!! The low/mid range is the most important to me(1800-3700rpm's)the old school muscle cars tha jump side ways when you hit the throttle is what I'm looking for.
I hope the kit is what it could be, but I know I can't afford it!!
I know all motor will be too expensive to make any real HP. Forced induction is the only way to go for a reasonable amount of money, unless you go for cubic inches right off the bat, like the 408 stroker motors and that will cost alot more than the turbo kit(SHORT BLOCK COST OVER $4500 AND THE HEADS AT $1600+, CAM+VAVLE TRAIN AT $800+, INTAKE COST ANOTHER $600 FOR TB AND INTAKE PLUS THE $260 CPU ANYWAY!!
I have read post about guys that probably spent $3000 on mods already and can't even back the 300hp mark. I think thats a waste and won't be sucked in to that mess. I am waiting for something worth my money. I refuse to spend $500 for 5 HP like most guys.
I won't go for the paxtons and vortechs because of thier top-end only power. I like the whipple(kenne bell blowzilla kit, but they don't make a kit for the 93' dakota I have.
I won't even consider the "part time power" of nos, all the time power is all that counts! "THE TRACK #'S DON'T MEAN SH!T IF YOU CAN'T RUN IT ON THE STREET ALL THE TIME!"
I guess I will have to wait till something thats worth it comes along :(

Message: well i have my problems here and i agree he should be running 15s but the kit is gonna be ~3500 and its gonna and like 190 hp to the 5.9 and like 125 to the V6. i think it will be worth it. hes comparing a lower boost level. if that rt is at 340 hp with 5 psi what do you think will happen at 8 psi?? 460 most likey....would be nice to see a new dyno though bernd. but get ur shit strait. for what bernd has put in his truck u could get a big a$$ crate moter but i dont think that is what he wanted to do.
hey people question...how does a V6 4x4 with intake and exhaust compare to a stock 2wd V6?

Something doesnt look right on Bernd's
numbers. I too thought he would be faster, but
then again that motor was made for boost
and made to respond to boost, so i think we
should all just be patient till he puts the kit on,
then blackdak you can b*tch when Bernd hits

Message: id love to see bernd hit 13.xx but i highly doubt he's gonna do that. his numbers never come out as high as he expects them to(he said hit V6 would be 250 hp NA) from the sound of it he's not close to that. Sounds more like 200 hp to me. although i think someone once said that 97-99 daks were slower then 00-02 daks. maybe he sux at shifting. but look at intensedak he claims to run even with an R/T w/o Nitrous and he has an auto!(granted his truck weighs quite a bit less)but he has less mods then bernd i think(unless he is supercharged now). Point is with that much work bernd should be running high 15s not high 16s. Never know though. personally i think he's gonna need some N2O to hit 13s beacause hit truck is too heavy.
hes bernd though...he's full of surprises.

Message: Ll Blackdak,
its really not that bernd has more mods than me... its that we have different mods on different parts of our trucks. First off i am lighter, like you mentioned. He probably weighs 4300 lbs wet and i no more than 3700 lbs. Thats a 600 lb difference and would be like a 60 hp increase on my truck. Bernd has a really built up motor but i dont think its ready for power yet. Most of the stuff thats done to it is to respond to boost (i.e. ported/polished heads, his camshaft, big throttle body, 24 lb injectors). He does have a lot of stuff like an aftermarket water cooler that in my opinion doesnt do anything. His truck was made to be a company vehicle that he uses for work. He has a 200lb toolbox in the back (not good for racing). My truck has been modified to be fastest going in a straight line. On all my runs i used slicks (except for the first 10.051) but i have an open differential... bernd doesnt have slicks but has a limited slip. SOOOOOO my guess is that he will get pretty close to 13.xx with a turbo kit but his truck will need a diet. My goal this fall is a 12.xx... hehehe
btw... where did you get that bernd ran a 16.6? i was just curious because i didnt see it posted anywhere and he didnt tell me about it... probably because i would give em hell!

Message: CCs really weigh 400 lbs more then RCs. but like my truck is a CC 4x4 and its curb weight is only ~4100. i dont know how much it weighs with gas and me in it but doesnt that mean that 4wd only adds cause it is like the same weight as bernds truck with his tool box. actually maybe 4x4 adds 400 cause i guess bernd weighs a bit also. only time my truck was on a scale it cam out to 6300lbs (about 700lbs of passengers and a bed full of garbage) lol at a dump in north carolina. if im not mistaken it shouldnt ever get up that high...opps oh well seemed to handle the weight ok. so if i have this weight thing correct my truck with fuel and me would only out weight bernd by roughly 300-400 lbs...right...that isnt very much

Message: No way is the kit going to make 460hp with only 8psi on a stock engine. Thier web site says that they expect to get 35 more hp with the missing boost for a total around 375hp. The 460hp is for what they think they will get after "(( Mopar Performance "R/T" Heads, ARP Studs, Custom ground camshaft (CompCams), M1-2BBL MPI Manifold, 52mm TB, 10# boost, larger Y-Pipe, and a much more free-flowing exhaust. Once these modifications are installed, we can definitely count on more than 460HP at the crank.))"
I doubt the stock engine kit will cost less than $4,000 since they had to make thier own headers, tubing and it's a twin turbo setup not a single.
It would be nice to see a street/daily driver v6 truck running below 14sec. I only look at what it cost to do it.

Message: I see the twists in the story already from certain (uninformed) people.
(1) The truck ran the 16.6 for the first time at the track without any tuning (needed a baseline)
(2) The engine is built for boost (and not 8# either - 12-15# is what we're planning on)
(3) R/T-2 is getting the boost controllers installed this weekend...and time permitting, will be run down the track.
(4) LI BlackDak stated: "he would only take me by like a car length at this point" - Damn...your truck is slow! ;)
(5) I was already in the mid 14's with 10# boost and a small shot of nitrous for intercooling - 12-15# boost from a Turbo is going to put the TQ and HP curves much more "flat" and will definitely put her in the 13's...without nitrous (and the motor can still handle the nitrous - that's why the all the mods to the short block).
PowerHungry: Are you basing the HP figures from the 10# boost from a Supercharger? If so...remember the HP/TQ loss from the belt drives. None with a turbo...and they build more HP/TQ than a Supercharger with less effort (we already proved that one).
Next question???
