Are the jba wires really worth it or should I just get a set of wires from the local parts store. Also to change the plugs can I remove the metal thing around them or should I leave on there. If I need to remove them how do I do it. How are the cylinders numbered on a 99 3.9l dakota. Is it like?

the "metal thing" around the plugs is a heat sheild designed to keep the heat from the exhaust manifold from melting the plug wires.Take it off if you want, but don't come back on here in a few weeks cryin that your new expensive plug wires are a melted mess.

firing order 1-6-5-4-3-2 for a 98, just check your intake manifold, driver's side 1-3-5, passenger side 2-4-6(on the fuel injector wires)

Are they worth it? Yeah, I guesss. I just put them on about three weeks ago and I don't know if I'm just being conscious but it seems like it runs a little smoother now.
