Message: I was wondering if instead of making some ghetto cold air intake if putting those lund hood scoops on my hood and then cutting out the hood below them and puting on an open element kn would do just as good or better. The girlfriends Dad says I would have to plug them in the winter as well as take of the open element cuz here in cold a$$ minnesota the engine would run ruff come winter any advice on this would help. thanks

Message: I don't think the fake scoops and holes in your hood would give you any better performance than a cold air intake. You may be unhappy with that decision later.

Message: If you do a search here for homebrew intakes or cold air intakes, you'll get a lot of hits. Most of the posts tell you how and what you'll need. Some of the posts include links to websites with step by step procedures too. Anotehr route would be to check out eBay. Do a search for Dodge Dakota. There are plenty of people making them and selling them pretty cheap there.
