Subject: Spark plug symptom? IP: Logged
Message: Ok, I pulled the spark plugs again and
replaced them like i do every 10 grand and
this time, well and somewhat last time, #5
cylinder plug has shinny threads, its kind of
greasy and it smells a little like fuel(no more
than normal) What could cause this? Also this
is a stupid question that i think i already know
the answer to but, when the base of the
ceramic right before the but and threads start
turns brown that means the plug is
fouled/burnt up right? I had two like that, never
had that before.
Thanks,
Josh

Message: Sounds like bad plugs. Hmm. If you had more than one, I'd start checking the wires, cap, and rotor to make sure everything is ok back there. If your cap/rotor contacts are burnt, you wouldn't be sending all the power to the plug that it needed, and it would foul.
Or, it could have been bad plugs. :0)

Message: if a plug is burned usually either the center wire or the side wire are burned away. Sounds like, without seeing your plugs that the cylinder is running a bit lean, but at low speed, below 1200 rpm for prolonged periods of time.

Er..
Well, if you've never had them off before, they are going ot be hard to get out. Dodge torques them in pretty good, and then they seem to get corroded into place. Try spraying some WD-40 down around them and let it sit for 5 to 15 minutes before trying again. Repeat as needed, serves 6!
