Subject: Where can I get a new IAT?
IP: Logged

Message:
Hey, I'm new to the Dakota world. I just got my new 2002 V6 3.9 2WD Club Cab about a month ago and I'd like to do some mods. I have a cold air intake on the way (360 Airintakez) and I'd like to move my IAT sensor to the intake tube. However, I think it would be easier to just get a new sensor and wire, hook that up leaving the other in it's place, and if I have to go to the dealer for some service I'd just plug the other one back in. Now, is the dealer the only place I can get a new IAT sensor from or can I get one from a good auto store, can they order it for me?

Thanks!!!

Ahhh, a thinking man! I've wondered why more people don't just do this rather than go through the trouble of removing the old IAT and plugging the hole. IAT's can't be that expensive, can they?

I don't think that they are that expensive at all, maybe $30-$40 tops!!! My concern is ordering from the dealer without having questions asked. Can you just call them up and order a new sensor without being questioned as to why? Or can I just have an auto parts store order it for me?

I almost bought a new IAT, but like you said, $30-40 for the sensor or $2.15 cents for the plug?

I just called a local Dodge dealer and they have the sensors in stock for about $36. I can just go and pick one up and I should be all set.

I'm with Todd, why pay $36 bucks for a new IAT when I'm sure you probably have an ole bolt lying around somewhewre that you can throw in there for free. You got to rewire things anyhow.

As the old saying goes "work smarter not harder" that goes for cash too.
