Subject: Dynomax? IP: Logged
Message: Right when I thought the Flowmaster 50 series delta flow was peferct for my V6, the great Bernd opended my eyes to Dynomax(reading other posts).
My Objective is simple:
1)Quiet inside the cab
2)Sound like a V8 on the outside
So my question is, is a Dynomax Super turbo muffler a better choice to meet my objectives than a Flowmaster DF 50 or a Gibson?
Thanks

Message: Dakman
I went with the DynoMax # 17733 on my truck, the main reason I started with it was it I could buy it for $32.00 ( at Summit) versa 80-90 for the FlowMaster, figured if I didn't like it I wouldn't be sitting on a $100 muffler. I liked the sound of it very well it rumbles at idle, and it's not annoying in the cab, I've seen some systems that buzzzz you out of the cab going down the road at 55-60 mph. I've outgrown the louder is better stage. The factory muffler is 28" long and the Dynomax is 18" you need to get a short piece of pipe at AutoZone. Just one thing don't try to save the factory muffler they clamp that thing one so tight . Be glad to e-mail you photos of my install if you like.

Message: Dynomax will accomplish your objectives. No questions. I drove a GenII truck with a 3.9L and the full Dynomax SuperTurbo cat-back kit for 3 years. Before that I had the Flowmaster set-up, and it was no comparison. The Flowmaster with a V-6 buzzes the interior like a power sander. The Dynomax is quiet inside and rumbles on the outside. For more WAV's, go to www.dynomax.com and look under the sounds section. All V-8's for the Dodge, but you won't be disappointed. Call 21st Century Exhaust in Florida. 1-800-276-6399. They will absolutely hook you up on price! I saved $100 on my V-8 Dynomax kit!!

Message: I just got a Vortec muffler installed on my truck. I was personally going to go with the Flowmaster myself, and wanted Dynomax, but got a decent deal on the Vortec. Thus far I am pleased. Nice pleasant rumble at idle, gets loud but not annoying at 2000-2500 rpms, and not ricey. I will eventually replace the entire exhaust system with a full catback, but for now this is just fine.

Message: I recently had a Dynomax installed on mine.
Got it from Summit (great place!) and had a
local shop weld it in (best way to go). Install
cost me $70, but they also raised my tailpipe a
couple of inches, so now it looks neater.
Now that I've had the cat replaced (warranty), I
definitely can hear the exhaust, but it's not
objectionable. Low, distant rumble at idle,
modest volume increase on the power, and
SINGS wound up. Now, all I need is time to do
the FIPK...

Message: I went with a Flowmaster 50 series and it sounds okay at idle but it sounds like a Honda when accelerating, basically it sucks. I have already bought a Dynomax and I am getting ready to install it, hope I'll be just as pleased as everyone else.

Message: Just installed my DynoMax, 17748, very easy install, nice results so far, extra thanks to my very cool wife for giving me a hand. Like everyone that has posted, not annoying in cab, low yet "powerful" tone on the outside. Dramatically helped passing. If you install one like I did with just the muffler, using the stock tail, buy a 3" 2 1/2 ID to 2 1/2 OD sleeve, fits like a glove, with all stock hangers on tail lining up. I have now noticed a slight hesitation if i stomp on it from a stop, any on else experience this?
