Does anyone have any evidence that the IAT relocation works? I was talking to some engineering types that basically said it does not work very well and could eventually kill the cat. They also said it could decrease horsepower because engines make maximum power at just below 14.7:1 a/f ratio, and running slightly rich with the IAT adjustment could make it run slightly rich and reduce power.

hope this info helps .. i moved mine and it only helps at certain temps during the day higher the outside temp the hotter the engine might get and the hotter the temp will be at the ait soo moving it will make it read a lower temp and adjust better fuel mix to the engine...my mpg stayed the same but noticed a little better power on a hot day

actually it works pretty well for such an easy thing, but do this splice some wire in there and shove it in your air box after you rip that damn rubber flap off by the radiator-Joe

The proof is in the pudding. I did the relocate and noticed a change in pick-up. How well it works is a matter of opinion. Working a little bit better is just that, working better. As far as running rich goes, after the relocate, I changed the plugs for the 3923's and the plugs
that I took out were a nice light brown, just like you would like a plug to look running in your
engine. It is my understanding that the engine is adjusted by computer program which will compensate the running parameters based upon all the factors affecting the engine. If the computer reads a cooler temp and sets the throttle body rich, then I would think, the computer would also set the air intake ratio to work with those factors. If the cat fails, (that would be a real shame, unless your living in L.A. or Denver)you can always do what I saw one mechanic doing, knocking the insides out with a pneumatic drill
and leaving a nice hollow shell, or you could just get a piece of straight pipe with a free flow muffler set up.

on the same deal rip that little boot that comes off your air box and goes into the fender off too, that's just a pain in the butt too

I didn't notice a difference in power with the relocation, and i have a cowl induction setup so i don't have to worry about the radiator flap stuff.

Basically what i was told was that the computer doesn't just look at the iat for info on temp, it also looks at a few other sensors. And, even if the iat relocate causes it to inject more fuel the o2 sensors would see it and cut the fuel down, and possibly throw the check engine light. After all if dodge could add a couple horsepower by adjusting the sensor inputs with no bad effects the would have done it.

I think i will move mine back...
