Subject: Intake plenum gasket leaking-using oil IP: Logged
Message: I've read on these posts before that the intake plenum gasket fails on some V6 Daks and causes the truck to use oil.
Do I have to take the intake off to see if the gasket is bad?
I checked my oil today and for the first time in 5 yr it was at the add mark. I check my oil EVERY time I get gas.

Message: You can supposedly shine a flashlight down the TB and look that way. If you see an oily film, your gasket is leaking.

Message: I noticed my gasket leaking because I had a drop in power climbing a hill. Checked down the throttle body and there was a good coating of oil in the bottom of the intake. Dodge has a repair kit which includes a new pan, improved gasket and bolts. If your doing it your self you might look at Speedteaks(web site down now for repairs), they have a 1/4" replacement pan, gasket, and bolts far better than stock. Don't forget to use new intake bolts, the factory bolt are of the use one time variety.
