Message: Kota 62,
I noticed you put the Flowmaster Delta 50 muffler in your truck. I am assuming you have the 3.9. What do you think of it? I am looking for something that sounds good on the outside, but is pretty quiet on the inside and I have read that that muffler seems to do that pretty well. Let me know what you thought of it.

Message: Bill:
You're right, i have a 3.9 and i couldn't have been more pleased with the sound, you can hear it thanks to those vents at the back of a CC cabin, but it a very nice growl. With the music turned up a bit (to drown out road noise) you can barely hear the muffler. Took a road trip up to Pa. last week, the muffler was never an issue (noise wise, driving at night with a sleeping 11 year old and my wife)
Hope this is what you wanted to hear

Message: That is about what I was hoping you to say Gary. I have heard that is a pretty good muffler. I don't mind a little noise, but some have said that their mufflers are ear drum blowing in the cab and I don't want that. Can I ask where you bought it? Also, if you had to buy a muffler again, is this the one you would buy? Thanks!

Start out at pricebandit.com, click on automotive. Go to carparts.com using the pricebandit 10% off coupon. Can't remember the P/N of the Muffler i bought, but it is the 2-1/2" center in, 2-1/2 offset out delta 50
I would indeed but this muffler again, I still get a silly grin on my face every time i fire her up
Good luck

Message: I heard several guys say that the flowmaster on the 3.9 v6 sounds like a ricer. That annoying buzz on all of the foreign makes. Is this true?

I know what you're getting at, but to me I think it sounds just fine (definately not ricer) obviously it'll never sound as menacing as a V-8.....

Message: Brad: If you go with the deltaflow then you wont really get that with the 40 series, i have heard that the 50 series will give that ricey hum, but i am wondering if the deltaflow will take care of that. After I got my delatflow 40 and a Carsound cat, that thing roars like no other. Rumbles very well. Our old 3.9s are old engines and they give more of a growl than nost engines today.

Message: I am looking for a muffler that will give me a nice deep throaty rumble, I hate the ricer sound, but I have read the 50 Deltaflow sounds pretty good on the 3.9s. The deltaflow reduced in-cab resonance from what I have read. Gary, do you think yours sounds deep? Thanks.

Message: i had the 40 series flowmaster on my truck and it had a very good idle sound... it was very annoying in the cab at full throttle but that was because i had no tailpipe (not even a downpipe). I would say it has a good sound all the time... if its cold it kinda sounds like a hollow 5.0 mustang sound. I am sure with a tailpipe it sounds even better.

Message: Hi Ya'll,
I just got a new exhaust put on my truck about 2 weeks ago. The local shop I went to, here in Dover, DE, was pretty cool about the whole deal. They sold flowmaster 40 and magnaflow. He had the tech hang each one of them and let me listen to them individually to let me decide. I thought the sound was about the same so I opted for the Magnaflow. The flowmaster mufflers only have a 1 year warranty on them and the magnaflow is lifetime replacement of the muffler. The way I see it, if the muffler goes bad anytime soon, it won't cost me that much to replace it. Just the labor at the shop. Total cost to me: $110. I was told by both the muffler shop and others on this board that it would take about 1000 miles to burn the muffler in and I would see a difference in the tone. Well, it's been nearly a 1000 miles and I have noticed a difference. I love it! With the windows up under normal acceleration, it sounds like a stock, well muffled V8. I've really noticed a pickup in performance when I'm rolling down the highway and punch the throttle to pass someone.
HTH,
Ray
Dover, DE

Message: Hey Ray,
Thanks for your post. Just when I thought I was set on the flowmaster, I read what wrote! I am going to have to do some more research. If you had to do it all over again, would you get the magnaflow? Also, how loud it is in the cab at idle/cruising/highways? Did you get just the muffler or a complete exhaust change out? Was this a national chain or a local place, seems like a great guy to do business with. Sorry for all the questions, but I want to do this right. Thanks!

Message: I have been working on getting video and audio clips on my site links. I have a few and one of the video links has a good audio clip as I approach and accelerate to clear a sand dune.
I have a 40series Flowmaster. This may help you decide if you like the sound the 40 series has. Since the page is not finished I have not posted this info.
You need a real player to see the clips. You can download it off the web page the video links are on.
Go hear and click on the videos link:

I am not sure which video has the best sound since we are at the Beach there is some wind noise on some.
