Message: The IAT Sensor is the "Intake Air Temperature" Sensor. It reports the incoming air temp to the engine so that the engine can alter it's timing and mixture for the best burn. It's located on the passenger side, front, of the intake manifold. You can't miss it, it's a brass unit with two wires coming out of it almost directly above the forward fuel injector.
Why move it? Because in it's current location it gets 'heat soaked'. The intake manifold itself is aluminum and has coolant runs in it, some are close to the sensor itself. I've heard that the sensor, in it's stock location, can sometimes report air temps in excess of 200F!
I removed mine, lengthened the wire (needs to be done), and mounted it directly behind my K&N cone by drilling a hole in the Air-aid and tapping it with a pipe-thread. You then need to block the hole in the intake manifold, since it's a pipe thread a standard 1/2" metal pipe end works. :0)
