 Subject: Which rear axle?

Can anyone tell me for certain which rearend my 2002 V6 auto would have in it? I'm pretty sure that it's an 8 1/4", but I don't know who makes it. It looks almost exactly like a Dana 35, but the tag in the glove compartment says "Corporate 8" or something like that...it was dark and I didn't have my specs when I looked...;-)

most likely it is a Dana.
count the bolts on the pumpkin. 12 bolts = 9 1/4. less bolts = 8 1/4.
You have the 8 1/4 if your glove box says 8.
Mine says corp 9 and I have 12 bolts

kryp2nite, my truck is a 2 wheel drive RC. The diff has 10 bolt holes, so I know it's an 8 1/4" rear, but I'm not sure if it's a Dana 35...if I decide later to get 3.90 gears, I want to know beforehand which rear end I have, or does it even matter?

i dont think it matters, the ring and pinion manufacturer's (SP) list the gears for 1972(ithink) and later 8 1/4 rear ends

Its a chrysler corp 8.25" Dana 35 is in the front of pre 2000 dakotas for 4x4's. The rear end is usually always chrysler corp 8.25" for the daks.
