Message: My 95 dakota with 3.9 is usually noisy with fan or air noise when I stand on it (roars). Cold or hot doesn't seem to matter. Sometimes during a longer trip It will run quiet tough and when it does it seems to run much better. I installed a new Bosch fan clutch and it still runs the same. It seems like a sensor or something. I love this truck. Has 166k miles, will smoke the tires when power braked and gets 23 mpg on a trip. It runs great but I have this nagging feeling that something could be better. Dodges Rule!

Message: Yes it has the factory cold air pipe from the air cleaner to the front beside the radiator. I added the Bosch two electrode plugs and indexed them east and west in the heads. also new bosch wires. Thats all, the rest is stock with the original exhust. I got an electronic resistor of some kind on ebay to put on the intake air sensor but have not installed it yet. The best two things I did to it were to replace the bench seat with the bucket seats from a 99. And add a set of chrome plated 15x8 wheels from the newer Dakotas (Capitol wheels in CA.). I mounted R24570 x 15 Goodyear GSX tires. The ride and look is super. I put in the CD cassette radio from the newer daks and the sound is fine as well. I added a sun Visor and running boards with extang cover on the back. I cut out part of the grill holes and added some fog lights that match.

Message: How the heck did I do that twice, Oh well. By the way when it goes quiet it runs smoother and looser as though the timing were better as well. If I park it and restart it it's loud again. I like the roar but I like the good way it runs when it's quiet better. I think I'm gonna unscrew the fan clutch and remove it and drive it around some and see what it does.

Message: I had a 92 that did the same thing. I replaced the fan clutch on that thing four times. Thats what the dealer told me was wrong with it every time. That fan clutch isnt fun is it? Eventually, I added a drop in K&N and a dual exhaust system and the problem went away on its own. It was almost like the truck wouldnt shift out of first gear for a while. I also got a recall from the dealership on the transmission, but by that time the 'roar' problem had gone away. Hope this helps some.

Message: Also, I later found out that my radiator had so much sludge and crap built up in it, that the guy I bought my new radiator from , said he had never seen so much dirt and mud and everything else come out of a radiator when he flushed it. I just wonder if that would make the fan work overtime. Just my two cents.
