My first mod, I think, was a drop in K&N. then it was the exhaust and then the Volant intake. I didn't have any notable gains but a louder intake noise. Maybe throttle resonse was beter. It's kind of like watching a flower growing. When I installed the F&B TB, it was like the flower blooming. Everything came together and performance, by my butt standards, is great for a V6.

I got the volant and installed it today, you are right it does have a loud swoosh/intake sound, especally with the A/C on. I had to go to homeDepot and but a number 072 hose clamp to install the heat shield, but other that that no major problems with brackets or anything a smooth install. Oh I paid about $270 for it from a performance shop down the street next day delivery. its part number 26952 for an 02 3.9

Congrats. 072 hose clamp huh? Learn something new each day. I bent the support bracket so it would work with the headers. Wait till you make other mods. Your dak will really perform. I would change the cap and rotor next because the stock stuff is for the birds. Get brass contacts. It will smooth out the idle a little especially if your old cap and rotor are alumnium oxidized. Guess what happened with the Volant intake, the damn things started letting in air at the top of the TB. so i took the thing off and i will try to get my money back on monday. Those tune up parts are next on my list of things to do, I send out a caution to all who have different air hats make sure they seat on the tb gasket correctly or you will be letting in unfiltered air. Make sure you check on the drivers side and on the backside that you can not see. I will e-mail volant and tell them about this little but important design flaw.

The first time I put on the air hat, I seated the air hat first on the TB. I made sure it was sealed first and then bent the support brackets to support the position. Make sure the holding nut can screw down enough to seal the air hat.
Neil, I think everyone uses the stock air hat with the accordian tube off.
