Subject: V8 TB ? IP: Logged
Message: Ok, I've read a lot recently about the V8 TB swap on here, but I have a question in regards to the swap that I haven't seen yet. With the larger bores that the V8 TB provides, does it match up with the ports on the v6 Intake Manifold or would I have to port match manifold to make them flush?

Message: They mount up fine... No issues, you'll need a V8 throttle cable, and about an hour's worth of time to do the swap.
I've got a bunch of stock V8 TBs sitting around-- plus sell the F&B Billet units. Email me if you have any questions.

Message: I have a 95 dak V6 did the swap the manifold holes are NOT large enough to match the v8 TB on this year. It installed and is working fine but I believe I am not getting the full effect (I used a 99 R/T TB and cable)

Message: rtdkota, how much are you selling the v8 tb for. I have been glancing around, and not finding any for a decent price.

Message: Hey Dakdar... the TB you have isn't going to work correctly with your '95... The '95 TBs (V6 and V8) have idle ports built into the TB barrels... The '96 and newer OBD-II ones do not (probably an alignment issue too as you have discovered).
If you got it to work, you got lucky. Though the both have similar sensors, the idle ports make a big difference in the way that they work.
Check your stocker and you'll see what I mean.

Message: V6 TB bores are 1 5/8 and V8's are a tad shy of 2" and same goes for the manifold openings.
If you want to do it correctly you need to have a machine shop open you manifold bore up to 1 7/8 - 2".
I ran mine both was and it DID make a difference in times. Just look down your TB bores after you bolt on a V8 TB, you will see quite a large lip that will cause turbulence.

Message: Forgot to say this though....
Seat of your pants WILL feel a V8 TB bolted right on no mod to the intake though.
Hope this helped. Scott
