Message: OK, so I just got back from Texas, got married and brought my wife with all her stuff. We stop for fuel in Dallas and she notices there is water all over my pass. side floorboard. I'm thinkin maybe I left a bottle of water behind the seat and it popped open, soaking the floor. Looking around, we find no bottle of water. "ok honey, dont worry about it" I say. We continue on to just outside Memphis, and she comments on how the floor is even wetter than it was, then just by chance she moves a drink carrier on the floor up under the A/C core over her feet. About 3 seconds later I hear "why is your air conditioning leaking?". " HMMMM the drain mut be plugged up"....ON A '02???? I pop the hood and check....drain is working just like it should...psss....pssss...psssss I hear. By now I have a totally soaked floor board and floor mat. No joke, I have an inch of water on the pass. side, and its starting to smell like mildew. By the way, its about 95 degrees all the way home, so there was NO chance I was shutting off the A/C. The only time it was off was when I was running up the big hills and had to have all the power I could get.
SO...now that I have written a book, will the warranty cover new carpet and to have this mess cleaned up and fixed, or is the dealership gonna give me a bunch of crap?
ps married life is great!!

Message: Take it to the dealer and tell them what you want, if you leave it up to them they will try to save as much money as they can. Be happy you are gettin new air and new carpet. just my 2cents
Dont back down, have them fix it and the carpet, if you want to get real picky get new floor mats as well and a loaner to beat on when you wait for it to get fixed.
ps good to hear married life is good i will be takin that step in about a year. (lots to plan)lol

Message: I work on Dodge autos and trucks and had one "in" recently like you described. Come to find out the drip was going out the tube and then underneath it and back into the cab, needed to be resealed where the tube comes out of the firewall. I believe the carpet will need a good detailing and a good chance to dry out. I seen some really soaked carpet that cleaned up nice and didn't smell.

Message: I have a problem with my 99 dakota where i can hear water sloshing around in the dash when the air is on and the evaporator core keeps freezing up on me, causing a blockage of airflow into the cab. I put it on vent-only to thaw out the core and fog starts to blow out of the vents as it thaws. I've never had it get my floor wet, though. And the drain tube is indeed working as there is a steady stream of water draining out on humid days.....any thoughts??

Message: Thanks for the guidelines...its goin in on Friday. The service manager figures the core isnt completely draining, and is going to check the drain line. He thinks it might be partially draining, but the rest is dumping back into the core. He sez they have a "real good" vac to clean up the water...we'll see. If it still stinks, I'm gonna throw a fit.
Yup, being married is grand! : )
