Message: I went with rockers, with headers you sometimes lose low end power. With a few more mods headers would help.

Message: I would go with headers first. When you get larger rockers, arnt you pushing more air thru, and theirfor if you cant exit the air faster/better, then you will be bottlenecking it right?? O well, my 2 cents.

Message: Definately rockers. Magnum engines need more intake before they need exhaust. I see in your profile that you have a flowmaster 40 series so your exhaust is freed up some already. Get the rockers and a throttle body, then worry about exhaust

Message: Well.. as far as increase in perf... The rockers will be the one that you feel the most. The headers on the V6 don't have as much increase as the rockers.
If you go with Crower, give me a shout-- I've got the best pricing, but also-- I can answer questions on the install too.

Message: DakotaDan installed the 1.7 rockers on his V6 and reports excellent results. He still has his stock exhaust manifolds, as I recall.

Message: That's correct. If you're installing a higher lift cam, it's recommended that you keep the 1.6 rockers.

Message: THOUGH... If you go with 1.7s first.. then want a cam later, you can get a cam built around that... My cam is that way... It's not that big of a deal.
If there's someone out there going wanting to do a cam, I can get a regrind done of my profile for the V6 guys-- based on Crower 1.7 roller rockers. I'd need your core for it (turn around in less than 1 week). You'd need crower 1.7s, rev kit (7.00" pushrods). It is recommended that you run with heavier valve springs. This cam has good low end, better mid, and GREAT mid-high power (peak on my V8 is 5400 rpm).
We haven't tested the cam profile on a V6 yet, so anyone who wants to go this route will get a good deal by being the tester.

Message: Other than keeping your foot in it more, do the 1.7 rockers have any effect on mpg?

Message: Well-- the mileage hasn't SUFFERED any ill effects-- though it may have improved slightly. I am in the 16.5 mpg range at cruise (75 mph) with AC on-- Rockers, cam, headers, RT heads, M1 intake, 52mm F&B, 3" exhaust (3" cat).
That's better than I got stock.
