Subject: eng. light on after tb swap IP: Logged
Message: Just finished replacing my 3.9l V6 tb to a 5.2l V8. I ported it by removing the hour glass shape on top. I had the neg. battery cable off during the install. Once it was all back together I started the engine. After a couple of chugs it idled smooth. The only problem is the check engine light came on. Went for a test ride and ran smooth again except for a couple of little chugs (approx. distance 20 miles). I have tried disconnecting the battery and unplugging the computer several times but the light stays on. Truck idles better now with V8 throttle body than with the V6 tb. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Message: It is a 93 Dakota Ext. Cab 3.9l V6 4X4. I also went back and installed the V6 tb and the light went out right away, then again reinstalled V8 tb and the light came back on. Truck idles smooth with the V8 tb and sure has alot more power. I also tried replacing the rear sensor (IAC ? )with the one from the V6 and it did not make a difference.
