Is there anything I can do to make my 5-speed shift better? Something a little smoother would be nice. Shift kits of any kind?

If that has the NV3500 Tranny (I think it does) you can get the Hurst Comp-Plus shifter for it. It -says- it's for the V8 only, but if you read the box it's for the NV3500. :0)

How much did that run you? Got a part number and a place that has a pretty good price on them? How do you like the kit?

I think I paid about $139 or so for it. Got it from Jegs, and it installed pretty quick. Hardest part was getting the plastic around the shifter out. The instructions said it came out a certian way, and it did, but I didn't want to force it.

I like the kit quite a bit! It's a bit louder, you can hear the gears meshing through the shifter now, but it's a lot firmer shift. Takes a little getting used too. I guarentee you'll miss 3rd gear a few times. :0)

Todd I am pretty sure that they only fit up to 2000. The '01 and up are different. Sucks because I can't get the shifter.:( Unless it is because mine is a HD unit.

Might be, I'm not sure. All it says on the box is "For V8 Dakota's with the NV3500 Transmission". Might work, might not...
