can i just bring it to a dealer and ask them to look at it or do i need to bring up specifics?
if so what should i ask them to look at?
its only got 17,000 miles

From my experiences at the dealership, you probably need to have some specific things you want them to look at. Even when you have specific things, they can always tell you that they can't find the problem, if they do that, have the service writer ride with you and have them actually experience the problem.
But to truly answer your question, I would have a list of things you want them to look at. Good luck.
