Message: Hiyas,
I've got a '97 Ext. Cab 2wd, with the 3.9L (obviously if I'm posting here). I drive it through the Motor City (Detroit) to work everyday, and plan to keep it for many more years.
Additionally..I'm looking to put in about a grand into performance mods. I've heard headers work well, but only with additional mods.
The second part, which relates, is what kind of exhaust setup should I shoot for? I'm planning on doing headers..my muffler already has a nice hole in it (I personally don't mind :P ), so I need to replace the exhaust anyways.
I'm definately a newby, but doing my own body lift installation this weekend, and have already replaced the Air Intake (not brain surgery indeed!).
Any suggestions will be appreciated...and I'll payback your knowledge with my own down the road!
Learning as I go!

Message: Hi Dan
Check my profile I'm very happy with the performance and MPG that my truck is getting right now. Be careful with headers and exhaust it is easy to loose low end TQ on these trucks.

Message: Hello there too Dan :)
I looked over your profile, and some things I didn't recognize - but given time (and research, which I'll do right now), I'll figure things out.
Looks like you did a V8 throttle body conversion.
I'm rethinking headers now as well. I'll do other mods and see how I feel with that, before getting into the headers then. Thanks a lot for the input!
Kryp, I don't give out my exact location on a public internet forum. :) But like I said, I'm driving distance from Detroit..I work there every day! And then some!

No kidding? I'm originally from the Flint Area. Got my Dak at Genesse Valley Dodge. Living in Florida for school right now though. Blech, it's hot down here. :0/

Message: Wow - lots from Mich! I'd dare to say we get the extremes of the hot/colds at times, but Chicago gets nailed just as hard.
Krp2, any reason you want to know? Coming to visit me or something? :) I'm 20mins south of Detroit.
Wanting to move to NC or SC eventually...was thinking Florida perhaps too - but I've heard the heat...and if a Michigan-native says it's too hot - I'll rethink it out! :P

Message: It's not too hot if your hanging out at the beach/pool/inside. It's actually quite nice then. But walking outside of an air conditioned apartment into the hot, muggy, air is like getting punched in the gut. You -definatly- want A/C in a car here. Not that I use mine all that often.
Oh, and Florida people run red lights like they are going out of style and everyone goes 20mph over the speed limit. :0/
The water stinks (No, it smells like sewage!), it rains every darned day, and the power flickers like a candle. Half the population speaks spanish and/or bad english, and there are ricers all over. Other than that, not a bad place to live. Just avoid the I-4 corridor unless you like sitting on the expressway in a parking lot. :0/
It's nice in the winter though!

Message: lol Todd..you crack me up. :P
I visited Florida for 4 days once...and everyday ir rained for a few hours. So I definately can understand that!
I'm a newby when it comes to drag racing/street racing etc...24 years old, (Ack, turning 25 in under 30 days!) but I've got the bug about all this a few months ago - and considering it hasn't gone away..I'd be up for meeting and just learning more!
My boss is setting to break the landspeed record in Bonneville next month, with a Streamliner. All his talk has fueled my urge to tinker with stuff. :P
I'm oblivious to any drag strips around..any suggestions?
(BTW: Ordering a V8 TB by tomorrow...figured that would be a good next mod from my research)

I've always wanted to head to a track, but never have. The one down here is crawling with riced out cars that I could easily beat if I could get -track time-. Too many cars, not enough track...
Oh well. :0/
