hey harvey,
i noticed that you have the exact same mods that i want to get in the future. right now my 6'er only has a gibson single exit and msd 8.5 wires. not much difference yet but i'm not complaining.
i'm just interested in finding out how you like your mods. can you feel a considerable difference yet? was it worth all the money you spent?
thanks, man!

Mulach,

I have to give credit to this board. A lot of people like Swingman, Lesley & I have done similar mods. I have to say that all the mods work in concert together. I feel my dak has greatly improved performance. It's like a 5.2 with no mods and V6 gas milage. I haven't done any computer mods because I didn't want to go to 93 octane. I'm cheap.

Is it worth the money? I say yes but if you are on a budget, there are less expensive routes to reach your goal. Like the TB. F&B very nice, Fastman very good (cheaper), Stock V8 good (cheapest). All within a HPs of one another. Ceramic coated headers. You can use the Nickle plated instead. Volant intake, you can use airaid or a home made. I wanted to be emission legal.

I have been very thankful to my wife to allow me to go a little more expensive on parts. I love and enjoyed the work I did on my dak. I think the next mod maybe the Accel 300 ignition kit. I think maybe next year or for Christmas. Enjoy.

Both you guys are right. I bought the Volant intake before they got their CARB approval. I did chant with them about their intent to certify their system. They received their certification but took a awhile to get out their stickers. In NJ, they used to do a visual inspection but Lattimer straighten me out. I found Volant an easy system to install. I read K&N instructions for their 2000-2002 GenII and there is a little more work. i really just want to passed the emission testing. Lattimer passed NJ inspection with his F&B TB so I decided to drop a few bills and addded the F&B TB (I think that was the greatest improvement).

You just gotta love what a throttle body does for the 3.9. I have the cheaper versions of everything else, and they all work fine as well:
Homebrew intake, Gibson single, JBA headers, IAT adjuster, 3923's, and BW cap and rotor.

My truck is a '00 CC 4x4, so its no dragster, but the difference is well worth. Plus I have the satisfaction of knowing I did it all myself.

Next up for me: electric fan, new ignition system.

NJQCDak:

I know this is an old post but I am new to the board. You said it drives like a 318 with no mods, right? Have you ever driven a 5.2 before? I have and if those mods can improve the power of the V6 by that much then I am definitely following you guy's lead.

Thx!

Boy, this was an old thread. No dis-respect to any v8ers out there. Truely, I have not driven a 318 magnum. A 74 318 yes. So, I have to amend my previous post. I do believe that all my mods have produced "good feel in the butt" power while retaining good MPG. Way better than stock. Really the best way is to dyno a stock 318 and a modded up 3.9L. If I had to buy a new dak again, I would try the 4.7L but I would the miss the MPGs. I think I will try the superchip microtuner next. Have fun.
