Message: well earlier this year(end march) i ran a 16.3@81...took my truck to the tracktoday and ran a 17.4@70.......i think my cat is going out...again......b/c i am hearing rattling under the cab. and it isnt wanting to start somtimes, and it spudders sometimes when im ideling......anybody got a idea if its anything besides the cat? i think i may need new O2 sensors too....thats what the guy at my muffler shop told me. my trucks a 97 and it has 88205 miles on it.

Message: A blown head gasket could cause those symptoms, but so could a few other things. Stick a vacuum gauge on the engine and hold it at 2000 rpm. The vacuum should drop when you bring the engine speed up but then it should stabilize. If the vacuum slowly drops ypur cats are plugged.
