Subject: V6 squeeks...rear-end IP: Logged
Message: Ok heres a problem or not you guys tell me. I
own a 99 3.9 4x4 and its started this annoying
squeaking sound. When I start out and hit the
gas it makes a sound similar to if you were
going to jump up and down on an old bed (or
do other things). But the rate increases as the
truck speeds up. However, If i let off the gas
while stil going to same speed as while
accelerating the noise goes away. Like i said
it seems to be coming from the rear end and it
only does it when i go from nearly stopped or
stopped and only when im on the gas. Any
suggestions?
Thanks.

Message: I'm not sure on the 99's but my 98 does the same thing. Accoding to Alldata there is a TSB (technical service bulletin) that tells how to fix this problem. The problem lies in the leaf springs. There is a bushing or somthing that causes the springs to rub together, thats where the squeaking is coming from if its the same problem I had.
