Sounds like you lost back pressure...

The truck feels a little sluggish at low rpms right? The problem is that your not pushing enough air into the engine to offset the larger exhaust. A performance throttle body will help but then the intake manifold slows things down. I felt the way you do after my custom y-pipe and cat, not the same low end. My top end benefitted quite a bit; truck felt stronger than ever in the higher rpms. I got my low end back when I changed from a 30" diameter tire to a 28" (and slightly thinner); which got my rearend ratio back to 3.55.
Work a little more on getting more air in and less on air out. A TB with a port matched intake manifold with smoothed runners (perhaps cut shorter), performance cam, and ported heads w/5 angle valve job will do the trick! ;) Just some ideas.

Jail Striped: You may have lost a little bit of bottom end as a larger exit system will move the powerband up to a higher RPM range. Not a big thing though...you can compensate with a modified TB (or V8 TB swap) which will give you the "punchy" feeling back from off-idle. (Also, use the TPS trick to get the throttle response a little better.)

Modifying the heads, cam, and intake will only move your powerband higher (cam depending in some cases) and will not fix a bottom end TQ loss.

On the tire size/gear ratio...3.90:1 with an automatic is just about perfect for the V6's.

Thanks for the info guys. Hey Bernd I think I'm getting the TB, you said the one from the 5.9? right? Will that come with everything I need to install it? And what is the TPS trick you were talking about and should I do it to the stock or the new TB?
Thanks again

I'm getting my JBA headers installed tomorrow morning. I just bought a Borla catback, should have it on within the month but I don't have the TB on yet. (I think the mail lost my cables). I figure the truck should be fairly balanced so far with what I'm getting done to it. Then, hopefully I get the TB on at the same time as the catback.
Does anyone know anything about, or have an opinion on Borla tips? Effective or mainly for show? (or noise - no thanks).

lesley the cat back will sound nice!! For what I know tips don't make much difference unless you get the turn downs, they amplify the sound. Let me know what you think of the TB when you get it done.

Sure I will. I guess I will hold off on getting a nice looking tip, I've spent a pile of money lately.

I plan on doing my heads, cam, intake (what I said in my post) sometime this summer. 1. Will I feel a big loss of bottom end plus a sweet gain of top end? or 2. Will I NOT feel a loss of bottom end and gain top?

Got my adjuster and t-stat two days ago, and will probably install this weekend. Thanks!

Jail: The 5.2/5.9L throttle bodies are the same size. Yes, we supply the cable, gasket, and the (New) TB comes with a new TPS and IAC solenoid.

Deep: That would depend on the cam, intake and head modifications.
