Message:
I had opportunity to update my page with the new engine bay pics. Below is a sample and if you would like to see more click on the link below and follow the menu to the pictures. For those of you with high speed access (or patience)I included high resolution pics for greater detail.
I'll be updating the pages soon to include what I did, how I did it and the pieces/parts that I used. Please be patient though.
Thanks,
Chuck Robbins

Message: OMG Chuck, that is gorgeous! Do you even drive
that truck? That is the cleanest engine bay I've
ever seen! Love the new rad hose, I need one of
those too.
Did you ever find out if we could adapt braided
hydraulic hoses for our trucks? I still have the
sleeves

Lesley,
I haven't tried the braided fuel lines yet, but I see no reason why they wouldn't work on the vacuum lines. The only downfall (besides cost) is that they only come in one diameter and we need a couple diameters for our trucks. I'm not sure of the diamters off hand, but if the vacuum lines are smaller than the fuel line then they could be clamped down until there's no leaking.
And yes, I do drive my Dak (even when I do side work painting houses). I just wipe down the engine bay a couple times a month and give it a good detailing before each show.
Gabe,
I got your email and am glad you found the air cleaner. I don't have the part number for the filter I used, but you should be able to find one either locally or at Sumit Racing.
The K&N filter I'm using is 9 3/4" x 2 1/2". I had to cut the flange down on the bottom half of the air cleaner so I could fit it under the firewall and a/c vacuum line. If you get a 2" tall filter you won't have to cut the flange down and you'll still have plenty of cfm's for your engine.
Dale,
I tore the whole front of the engine apart (including the intake manifold & fuel rails) to polish everything. After everything was polished I covered what I didn't want painted and then painted the pulleys. I never had any problems with the pulleys locking up or anything.
Greg (dodgeboy),
Did we have opportunity to meet at Carlisle? Was your Dak there? I headed out early Sunday because I had to be at work Monday morning and I was still facing a 6.5 hour drive to get home. One of these years I'll plan it so I can stay longer.
Thanks for the kind words everyone. Now just wish me luck maintaining it :-)
