Message: Has anyone else noticed how badly the front tires wear on the outside edges? I have talked with other Dakota owners, and theirs do the same thing as mine. I have a 98 CC sport with a 3.9.

Message: Yeah i have had the same problem. I have a 98 RC 3.9L. I'm about to get new tires here in the next couple weeks. This would be the third set i've had and i only have 46,000 miles on my truck. The first set were claimed to be "defective", so i was able to get a brand new set for practically free. The first set of tires(all 4 of them) wore out in less than 10,000 miles! So i know all about the wearing problem.

Message: I've never had tire problems, except with the stock P251/75R15 badyears. had like 40 percent wear left at 12400 miles. i had new wheels sittin at home, so just did everything at once, chewed those tires up in 17000 miles(P-series, 4 ply tires on a pickup....PLLLEASE), fianlly got some LT235/75R15s on there, and lovin 'em....no signs of wear, and i've driven the crap out of 'em

Message: I got BFG's A/T 31's on mine. Never have had a problem since. Just the factory ones only lasted about 10k miles and did the samething. I've put about 50k on the BFG's and still have about 30% left. I would not use any other tire. Greg

Message: It could also indicate a ball joint problem, something fairly common with daks. Especially if it has trouble staying in alignment.

Message: It is normal for front tires to wear more at the outside edge, this happens during turns, so the more city driving you do, the more you need to rotate (front to back). Twice a year should do, unless you are above average in miles driven. Your favorite tire salesman can explain it better, I am sure.
Part of the problem could also be the specs. A really good front end expert knows when to use the specs and when to ignore them. Ask around the independent garages, ask them where they take their rides to get a good alignment. Don't hesitate to pay extra, if it gets done right the first time!

Message: I had the same problem on my 94sc. i started noticing it at abut 8000mls. At the time I was working at a shop with an ali rack. To tell you that I was really surprised that the ali was soooo far of is an under statemant. I have since heavely modified the suspention, my specs are 4 1/2 deg +caster, (cst cntrl arms) 3/4 deg -camber,0 toe. I have put aprox 7000mls on this set up, and have competed in two open track events. By the way the miles I put on the street, the tires only exp nominal tire where.

Message: Mine wear that way as well; I've helped them out a little by inflating to 35psi instead 32 up there; feels a tiny bit more responsive that way too. I always figured it was just my enthusiastic cornering; all my vehicles have done this. I reduced the rear to 28psi for the opposite reason. Neither eliminates the problem completely.

Message: All 3 new Daks I bought I took in, in the first 2
weeks and had them check the front end and all 3
were off.
ASK For a Print Out before and after and look at
it. Computer 4 wheel alignment machine.
Get it lined at a good shop they will check for
lose or worn parts before they will line it. Not
