Message: 6appeal,
I have a Volant on my F&B 48mm TB. The stock air hat had ridges on the inside so you needed to mod the air hat (trim the edge, I think). I dremeled off a little of the Volant air hat edge that meets the TB. This was so that the air hat would sit flush on the TB. I suggest that you try attaching the air hat on the F&B TB first (before installation) for fit. I used a "S" bolt to hold the air hat. It took some time playing around with the alignment but it worked.

Message: NJQCDak..
Thanks for the info! Shouldn't be too hard to do all that, right?? So, are you satisfied with the Volant/F&B combo?? Is there a noticeable difference?? I'm most likely going to stop with the mods after I get the tb installed cause these mods are killin' my pocket.
p.s. BE PREPARED, cause I might hollar at you with questions when I install the tb!

Message: I think the toughest part was making sure the Volant air hat sat flush with the TB That is why I suggested the fit test before you installed the TB. I think it might be easier with the TB off the truck. You don't want to find that the air hat doesn't sit flush while on the engine. It was trial and error. You may find that the air hat sits flush already.
I found the F&B TB to be a biggest improvement but it was my last so with all the mods together I found everything work very well together.
Don't be nervous installing the TB. Just follow the directions. They are quite good. The Pics weren't that great but I had the service manual. I was quite impressed with the design of the F&B TB but pretty expensive.
