Subject: All these freakin' sensors... IP: Logged
Message: I've noticed that the vast majority of problems that people seem to have with their Daks are due to sensor failure or misadjustment. I'd imagine that it's the same story with just about every new car these days. I'm probably going to show my age here, but it used to be that if a car was running rough or making a weird noise, you'd know where to look by reading the symptoms. Now, a car may exhibit the same symptoms, but it's all because of a dam* $20 electrical sensor that's supposed to read something and send a message to the PCM. The very things that are supposed to keep our vehicles running smooth are the source of the problem 99% of the time, and you have to be Bill Gates to figure it out! A car won't start because of a bad crank sensor? I suppose it'd be silly to suspect something logical like a blocked fuel filter or a bad coil. Why the crap do they need a crank sensor? I thought that's what timing chains were for. We even have speed sensors in our differentials now...something else to screw up and freak us out...oh, well.

Message: Yes but when you walk outside in the winter time, you know without a doubt that your car will fire up and run great, you don't have to pump the gas and crank it over, then wait for the carb/choke to warm up before you can drive. Also you get lots better gas milage, and you make more power per cubic inch. The new vehicles aren't any harder to fix or diagnose than the old ones, they just require different techniques and tools.
