Subject: Twin-Turbo - R/T-2 is Alive!! IP: Logged
Message: R/T-2 took it's first (new) breaths today and fired up like a champ. A few minor adjustments to the oiling system (had to change the orifice restrictor sizes slightly) and some minor oil seepage (two fittings weren't quite tight enough)...and she spooled up. (God that sound was
COOL!!)
We've put a few new pics up on the web but keep in mind that they are still with some of the proto-type (or unfinished) parts. Once the final system checks and wiring harness has been built...she goes on the road to the dyno shop for A/F testing (and tuning) as well as some HP/TQ figures.

Message: sweet...hey Bernd, I was wondering, which would be better for engine longevity...supercharger or turbo?...my guess would be supercharger but I really not that familiar in that field.

Message: It's not a matter of how long they last...but rather the application. If you design the system properly and keep it maintained...it should last the life of the vehicle.
But then again...there's always mechanical failures that just "happen".

Message: Hey Bernd... On your web sight, you said that after messing with this R/T, that you were definitely going to make the turbo kit for the 6ers a twin. Is that still a go?

Message: I'd prefer a single for my v6 just to save money and complication. But two would be exhilerating to say the least.

Message: Bernd, didnt you have a discusion on the turbo post, that 2 turbos wouldnt be effective on a 3.9? I thought that was the final say on that topic. I'm not second guessing anyone that wants TwinT's, i myself would like that IF it was worth it. I didnt think the 2nd turbo was worth it.

Message: rooknute. Reason for asking about the twin vice the single is that I'm all about the boost! I've had 2 Daytonas. The first one I did just a few mods to and ran 15#'s before gettin worried. The 2nd, I went a little overboard with the help of my buddy Mike at Forward Motion Inc in Wilmington Delaware. I ran it as a daily driver between 20 and 25 #'s. On race nights it would pumped it up to 30-35 #'s, depending on weather, track conditions, what mood I was in that night, etc. :-) If bernd put together a twin for the 3.9s and I got bored with the boost, I could tear down my motor so I could crank them bastards up.
