Message: I am new to this, but I have a 99 ram, 3.9v6 auto and I am getting bad mpg, like 12 in town, 15-16 highway. Anyway I can get better mpg without hurting my pocket book?? And I also dont want to take half my engine apart to do this. Thanks

Message: A tonneau cover will help on the highway. With all my mods I get 22 mpg straight highway. 19-20 mostly highway. I just need to lay off the pedal.

Message: I got 23.78 and 24.54 over the last week :0)
Usually I get about 20-21 though, highway. City is probally 19-20... I don't rightly know, I don't drive in the city very far. Maybe three miles?
Someone suggested the exhaust and a new intake. I agree, at least do the muffler and -definatly- get an intake or fabricate a home-brew with a K&N cone on it. Relocating the IAT helped me a bit, and the Autolite plugs did too. I really recommend the Borg&Warner cap and rotor, possibly the wires as well. Oh, and if your handy with tools, I actually got a slight MPG increase porting the TB. Go figure on that one.

Message: No, I occasionally run 89 if 92 is too expensive... but when I do that the milage dips down to 17-18 and it has less zip to it. Doesn't ping like mad unless I put 87 in it. :0)

Message: Get a matched set of injectors. That will improve performance and get you a couple of MPH better. Injectors only take an hour or two to install.

Message: Ok, thanks. A co-worker suggested the bed cover, and a good tune up which I just had done before I talked to him about it. Will look into the muffler and intake system. Thanks for the advice!!

Message: heehee... I have the same problem with me dak... last tank I filled completely was 12.15 mpg, the last one I topped off was 12.44 mpg.... but I normally drive the truck to work (3.7 miles) and back home 5 days a week then don't drive much on my weekends. For reference, I topped off the tank for a little ~115 mile round trip to drop off a dog... had 113 miles when I topped off for 9.083 mpg. Guage showed a little over 1/2 tank full. I made the trip, showed 113.7 miles on trip meter, and tank shows a little above 3/4 full now.
