Subject: Another TB Question IP: Logged
Message: Ok i am going to get a junkyard throttle body off a 1995 5.2L engine to put on my 1996 V6. I am going to get a gasket from the dodge dealer. What do i have to do to modify the throttle linkage? Or am i better off buying the v8 cable setup?
The '95 TB will work on the '96 v6 right?
Before i install the TB i will soak it down it carb cleaner to make sure it's nice and shiny. Is there any porting and polishing i should do before i install it? I've ported and polished engine heads before so i know how to do, i'm just wondering what areas on the TB should be grinded down.
Any advice is appreciated.

Message: just get the V8 linkage it would be easier.
grind down the air horns that go around the ports and round off the flat surface to the port and polish it up. I did all that to my V6 throttle body before my new throttle body and let me tell you what a difference just grinding those air horns made.

Message: Have any of you guys drilled and tapped the TB for nitrous? Right now i just have it screwed into the side of my air intake. I don't want to drill at a random spot and end up going through any sort of passage ways hidden inside.

Message: From what Mopar Muscle says and my experience you shouldnt need anything but to bolt it on.
I have a 94 and I put on a 95 V8 TB with no problems.
Good luck, Scott

Message: oook, I get it now, duhhh. Thats a before n after. So bascialy the stock only allows are that is directed to the ports to go in, where the mod allows ALL air to work its way into it. Got it ;). If I cant get a v8 one soon, I will do that after shes out of warranty in about 500 miles :D

Message: '95 was the last year they used EGR ports in the throttle body bores...it'll cause strange idle problems on a '96 or newer. Grab a V8 TB from the same year (or newer) for the '96.
