First off, he never gave us any years to play with. So we don't know how much horsepower is in play and the weight of the trucks. Second, I have raced a Blazer X, and beat it by my nose. Close race all the way down the street. I'm not saying I WHOOPED ITS ASS, I barely beat it. But either one could win, depends on reaction time, if both are auto's or shifting speed and errors. That all comes into play when racing. But look at this Dodge has a new V6, that puts 210 horses. I been beaten by an S-10 extreme, ext. cab. but not bad at all. thats with my 2000 3.9. Im sure that this 3.7, small, lighter, more HP motor could give damn good competition if not beat xtremes

my buddy in my squadron has an '03 S-10 Xtreme, and I have an '04 Dakota SXT with the 3.7 - It was pretty even up until 3rd gear, then I pulled ahead by about a truck length. I win. :-D

Now I'm not trying to put anybody down but I can say without a doubt that my 99 dakota with a 5.2L can put an extreme to shame because i've done it several times. Heck my dakota is even a 4x4. Its not a good idea to start hammering on trucks with V8s, you're liable to get shamed on the streets. You want my opinion on the extreme? Its a package that makes the driver think they have a really cool, fast vehicle (for the wannabe). My advice: if you can't mod it yourself then you don't deserve to drive it - step up to a real engine or take it home.

I had a 2001 Xtreme ext cab with the 4.3l before I bought my new Dakota. It was pretty quick being a 4.3l, but I can tell you from experience that these trucks are not lightning fast like alot of people try to make them out to be. Other than a good body package, it was no different that any other pickup. It had alot of power, which it should for a big 4.3l but I don't think it could hold up to my 3.7l.

I raced a 04 Sliverado from a dead stop. He had the V8 in his truck, I took him until about 60 mph where he started pulling. From the line I had him by 3 cars!!! I have the 4:10 gears in my truck so I think that is why I got the jump.
