Message: just like "joe_himself" and his post i'm getting a
tickin noise from my engine compartment. sounds
like its coming from the back of the engine. it
only does it when i'm in gear not when i'm in
neutral. i went racing last night. got about 5
runs best time was 16.7 with a .78 reaction time
84mph. 2000 5 speed with headers, airaid intake,
relocated iat, and new sparkplugs. didn't hear it
till after i was off the track and goin home. any
one have an idea what it is? is it somethin i
could fix or do i need to take it to the shop?
thanks

Message: my first guess would have to be an exhaust leak at the header to head gasket because you have headers on there and those last bolts are a b!tch to get on tight. Retorque those and see if it goes away.

Message: well i haven;t hada chance to get to my headers
yet but i can tell you a little morw about it. its
almost inaudable. you have to listen really hard.
its not a thunk or anything its like a small
ticking. i can;t feel it in my pedals or anything
so thats a good sign. but i'll check the headers
and let you know how that goes.
I think were goin back down to capital this
friday. not sure though i dont; wanna go again
till i get my new TB so if i get that this week
then i'm goin if not then it'll wait till next
week.

Message: yeah it does speed up with the engine. so
hopefully thats it. and yeah i'd love to go but i
have to work on weekends. tryin to get another
job. more so that i can have weekends off to wor
kon the new project car. getting a 74 charger body
mildly parted out for $500. and got a few people
checkin on engines. getting a price on a 383
blueprinted and blown pulling like 560hp. and
still lookin for a 440 mag. i can get one from
"rebuilt-auto-engines.com" for around $1300. so
that'll be our last resort. of course theres
always the 472 hemi. hahaha

Message: hmmmm..... is your header gasket in good shape?
about that heat rising.... was that in traffic, what as the temp?... that is probably normal if that was the conditions.
