I have a 1995 Dakota extended cab 4/4. It started running ruff today. It has been starting hard but running ok for the last month. I hear a humming noise coming from mt tank. Could my Fuel pump be bad and where can i get a replacement without going to dealer.

Thanks

I too have a '95 4X4 without the extended cab. I was having basically the same problem. As time went on the 'longer' it took to start. Once started it ran fine. The humming sound you hear is the fuel pump working. Anyhoo...it sounds like the fuel regulator going bad. I went to Advance Auto and purchased the whole fuel pump/filter, regulator module for $154. The one you get at the Dodge dealer is made by Carter...as is the one you get at Advance. The dealer model is in the $300 range. Just did the install tonight. It is simple and straight forward. Some say drop the tank, still others say take the bed off. I did the later. There were eight bolts holding the bed on. You need at least one or two others (or hoist) to help lift the bed. It's not real heavy, just awkward. Once removed, it's nothing more than an R and R, one for one. Don't forget to unhook the tail lights and the fuel intake nozzle.
