Subject: After Injectors Part 2 IP: Logged
Message: Ok, I have drove with my 97 4.6l FOTE-05A injectors and autolite 3923 (stock gap) for 400+ miles. I have noticed very little mpg improvement. With the truck in park or neutral, it changes rpms from 700-1400 on its own?? So question is, what did I do wrong? are the injectors dirty? Give me some ideas please.

Message: Are you sure all the injectors are seated well in their holes and all the clips went on correctly? Also, what it might be is you didnt oil the O-rings before putting them in and they are leaking air. If you didnt oil the O-ring, try that.

Message: Yes, have stock set still, I NEVER get rid of stock parts. I am going to look into it after work today. HOPEFULLY its just got a vacume leak around the injectors, and I can buy an o-ring set from local parts store.

Message: Yeah... your not suppose to re-use old o-rings. Arent the injectors used out of a junkyard? if so that might be your problem.... think of how long they sat with old fuel and stuff in them. And are you sure those are the right ones for your model truck?

Message: I asked the counter guy if thats what would work in a 97 mustang with a 4.6l, cause the tag just said 97 passenger vehical. He said yes, had 4 holds in the bottom of them. Will try and find new o-rings and try that. Thanks.

Message: Ok, I got some new o-rings and reinstalled them. Gee, go figure, they dont make them for a 97 dak, but they sure had them for a 97 mustang. I let it idle for about 2 min, looked for fuel leaks. None, so its a go for driving it to work tommorow. Will let ya know how it goes!!!! Painted my SS Gen II roll pan at same time. LOOKS SWEET!!!!
