This board has been extremely helpful in the past. I have a 1988 3.9 Dakota, standard tranny and had a small fire behind the carb. Most likely a fuel line. It needs a wireing harness complete as well as some other items. I have a located a harness that is intact from a 1988 vehicle with an auto tranny. will the harness from the auto tranny vehicle work in my standard tranny truck? On the way home from locating it I talked to a parts store employee and he said that it wouldn't work and I called the dealership upon arriving home and the part # for both vehicles is the same. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Arnie

What is the vehicle? If the part number is the same, it will probably work. But if its some Chebbbby vehicle, with the same part number, probably not. If its a Chrysler vehicle, with the same part number, probably. It is a small price to pay if you want to chance it. DO NOT GET YOUR NEW PART FROM THE DEALER!

Thanks for the quick response. I should have been more clear that the 1988 vehicle I located is a 1988 Dakota as well, just different tranmissions. The dealer does not even have available the part although when I contacted them , they indicated that there was only (1) part number for the wiring harness for both the auto transmission and the standard which I have. These harnesses are few and far between so I would like to be sure that the one I put a deposit on this morning will work..
Thanks all for any and all input. Arnie
