I put my gibson catback on and my 1st impression was that it shifted smoother, but didn't feel any faster. latly it seems to have decent(not that decent) highway passing power. not sure if that is from the exhaust or not. anyway im getting sick of the damn thing. With all that noise it makes its embarassing how slowly the speed is increasing. I want it off. does it really add 10-15hp??? its rattly and the damn tip is encrusted with embeded dirt..what a waste of $300. Sounds like crap to car people and annoys everone else. whats the point? I'll never be happy...lol. one question though. assuming I do go back to my stock muffler(wont be easy, pipe is cut in a bad spot...lol) will other performance parts not work as well w/o exhaust, like turbo or a new tb???

As I recall you got frustrated w/ your Jet 2 chip and sold it as well....The problem is you are expecting an incredible performance boost from one particular part. The truth is all of the parts work well together. The reason the chip did not work is that it is made for vehicles with exhaust mods....like cold air intake, throttle body, headers, and Performance exhaust. It is not made for just the exhaust system alone. Our trucks need to breathe in as much as they breathe out. If you remove the exhaust then all the air coming into the engine with your new TB or forced air inducted turbos will be restricted on the way out, in turn not producing the HP possibilities. My exhaust did the same thing, so next i added the headers, an intake, and the V8 TB. Air in = Air out...Free Flowing...Now I added the FMS injectors, New Autolite plugs, 8.5mm wires and a relocated IAT. Trust me, you waste more time and money by removing the mods and replacing them with others... Just keep adding, and you will be happy.

you see alex, the first number is the distance an average person can see an object without any distorsion. the second number is you compared to the average person. the lower the number the better, and likewise higher the number the worse the vision is.

I just love it when people compare nitrous engines with non-nitrous engines. I don't even factor in Nitrous in my figures. Do you know why? Because it's a -shot- deal. You don't run nitrous all the time, the engine only makes that power when you hit the button. Heck, I could have probally gotten 200+ HP out of my 1996 Cavalier if I'd given it Nitrous! Probally would have melted the rings and warped the heads, but darn it all, thats not the point! 200+ HP!
Factoring Nitrous in when comparing engine specs only is lame. One engine is going to produce the power stated all the time. The other, only when you push the button and for what, 10 seconds?

2. after test driving a 4.7 4x4 i now believe it would be possible to get my truck to be that fast or faster.

hold off on the headers.. it would be the last mod you would want to do because it gives the least amount of change. The tb would be the first because it gives a lot usuable power. Next get the rockers... they really open up these engines in the 2000-5000 rpm range.

Turbos/Superchargers arent really as bad as N20 in my books. Atleast they build off of what the engine has to offer. N20 can be used on anything from my old carb'ed 83 grand prix or an 02 maxima. Nitrous oxide doesnt mean anything period.
Its almost like comparing a car thats been driven down a flat quarter mile and then comparing it to a car of equal performance thats been driven a quarter mile down a hill... Not really relivent in the least to compare the 2.
