Message: Which are the best? I was thinking about summits combo oil and tranny one. If I'm not willing to spend that much then just the regular summit ones or the b&m one. What you think? thanks

Message: Tony:
I'd personally go with the separate oil cooler and separate tranny cooler. Your oil is going to run hotter than your trans should. A friend who is a tranny hot shoe tells me that a transmission lives the longest between 160 and 180. Over 200 things get dicey. At 220 and over you can cut your trans life in half. Clutches and bands(we're talking factory) start to not like life at all. Your engine oil can get hotter than your rad coolant where your normal cooler runs. And space things out. If you install a extra trans cooler; don't smash it right up against the radiator. Give it some room to breathe. Use enough of the foam pads supplied with the mount kit to give it at LEAST a HALF INCH between it and the radiator for air to circulate and escape. Nuf said?

Message: Just happened to be in the neighborhood and was checking on posts. Gawd there R some silly s**%s out there. I mean some certified dufii (that's plural for dufus!). You only need an oil cooler if you are going to run in a hot climate and be running the CRAP out of your truck. It can reduce the cooling load on you rad, but at what cost.?? In normal driving an oil cooler is NOT needed. An extra trans cooler is NOT needed, but can help to improve things. I know for a fact(cause I live in Phoenix and am a gauge freak) that a trans cooler can knock 20 to 40 degrees off your trans running temp. This is GOOD. Figure this,,,OK? If your engine is running at 195-200, figuring a stock cooling system, and your trans cooler pulls out another 10-15-maybe 20 degrees, where will that put you? Right where i was saying your trans is liking life the best. Assuming you have a factory extra cooler, I'd splice in that and run an external filter(to add more fluid capacity). You say you OFFROAD? Yup, you need as much cooling and fluid as you can afford to spend money on. Torque converters churn the fluid, churning causes heat, crawling along in 4WD causes heat. See?? HEAT, heat, heat. Hope this helps. I'll check ya L8R.

Message: WHOA! Engine oil heats up? Tranny Oil heats up. This is new to me! Alan you helped me so much in explaining what coolers do. They actually cool the oil? Wow...learn something new everyday! You know, being and off roader for like 3 years now I had no idea there is more heat! What would I do without that info. Thanx Alan!
Your fellow dufus (dufii club),
Tony

Message: Was tooling around the neighborhood and thought I'd drop in. I hope you didn't think I was calling you a dufus. I'm always glad to help if I can. I also dropped into another post you put up and saw you had a MAJOR motor problem. How did things turn out? Dude, I wish you were closer. I have had good luck getting what I want by going DIRECTLY to corporate. Screw the dealer if you are getting the run around. You must have the 4.7?? Yow! I'd have someone's head on a stick by now. There would be people calling ME asking if there was ANYTHING they could do to make it all good again. I'm not mean, or bad, but letter writing is a knack I have. Maybe we'll hook up on the chat sometime.

Message: Bob,
I sent you a message. Hope your e-mail address is working.
What up Tony? Just in the neighborhood. I gotta get all my online time when I can. My 15 y.o. son likes the internet so we tend to compete for computer time. Talk to ya later.
